Saturday’s impressive Doomben winner Emtevee Queen has qualified for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic but trainer Kevin Kemp may bypass the huge prizemoney on offer in January.

The Testa Rossa filly hit the line with a powerful finish to win the Sky Racing Hcp (1050m) in a close finish from Sundance (I Am Invincible) and River Racer (Hidden Dragon). It was her third start following a home-town win at Toowoomba and a last-start placing at Doomben.

“There are a million reasons to run her at the Gold Coast,” Kemp said. “But I don’t want to look too far ahead this prep. I would be nice to be there for the Classic. Then again, she will develop into a nice filly for the winter carnival.

“I’ve been looking for a reason to put her in the paddock but she hasn’t given me one yet. She really hit the line today and I’m looking forward to getting her out to 1200m.”

Emtevee Queen (2f Testa Rossa – Songs by Fuji Kiseki) has the pedigree to play a hand in the Magic Millions. Vinery sire Testa Rossa won it in 1999 and the Bjorn Baker trained colt Unencumbered emulated his sire in 2014.

“We got her for $20,000 at this year’s Sale,” Kemp said. “She’s a three-quarter sister to that (Testa Rossa) filly Pane In The Glass who won a Silver Shadow Stakes in Sydney a few years ago.”

Testa Rossa has 4 lots catalogued for the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions and first cab off the rank is the three-quarter brother to Twilight Royale (Lot 56). The Testa Rossa filly was a stablemate of Unencumbered and she won three races up to Group 2 level in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington.
