MORE THAN READY TOPS ANOTHER SALE
26 April 2010 |
The second annual Yarradale Stud Open Day and Yearling Sale was conducted at the Sayers family property in Gidgegannup on the outskirts of Perth on Monday afternoon with More Than Ready providing the highest priced yearling.
Paul Jordan bought the sale topping More Than Ready colt out of Pennywest. The colt is the third foal from the Stakes placed Dexter mare from the family of AJC Oaks winner, Our Sophia.
ANZ Bloodstock News reported a large crowd of close to 500 of WA's racing fraternity along with a number of Eastern States trainers and bloodstock agents were in attendance to firstly view the stallions standing the 2010 season at Yarradale Stud and then secondly to participate in what is fast becoming a "must attend, unique" sale of thoroughbred yearlings.
In a sale with a difference, Ron Sayers (Yarradale Stud) will retain and pay up for up to 50 per cent in any yearling sold to any owner(s) or trainer. Yarradale Stud has also offered to double the prizemoney won of the first, second and third placegetters in the 2011 Karrakatta Plate if that horse was sold as a yearling by Yarradale Stud in 2010 (on the 2010 stakemoney, that is bonuses up to $447,000).Following on from the successful first edition of the sale in 2009 where the sale grossed $919,000 at an average of $35,346 the results for the 2010 sale exceeded expectations with substantial gains across the board.
All of WA's leading trainers made their presence felt with Paul Jordan, Neville Parnham, Vernon Brockman, Lindsey Smith, Danny Morton, Colin Webster, Steve Wolfe, Adam Durrant, Aquanita Racing, David Harrison, Lou Luciani and many others taking home lots.
Danny Morton and Premium Syndications were the successful purchasers of Lot 14, the Medal Of Honor - Nureyev Again colt for $31,000. Not the highest priced lot of the sale but a lot that hopefully can make a difference for a few kids and their families.
This lot was generously donated by Yarradale Stud to REDKITE - supporting kids with cancer, and 100 per cent of the proceeds of the sale of this lot will head the way of this wonderful organisation.
