MYBOYCHARLIE

A top-class two-year-old, Myboycharlie won his first three starts as a juvenile, including the Anglesey Stakes (G3) and Prix Morny (G1), which he took in decisive style over Champion Natagora. By a prepotent son of Danehill, he is from a top-class international family.

Myboycharlie is line bred to the great family of Rough Shod II. His sire has group winners out of mares by both Sadler’s Wells and his brother Fairy King, who are also from this family. We expect Myboycharlie to work extremely well with both these strains, and Sadler’s Wells can be found through Scenic (sire of Blevic), Carnegie, Montjeu, King of Kings, Barathea and Galileo. Fairy King can be brought in through Encosta de Lago, Falbrav or Helissio. Danetime also sired a group winner out of a mare by a son of Nureyev (three-parts-brother to Sadler’s Wells and Fairy King), and he might be brought in through Peintre Celebre, Spinning World, Fasliyev and Stravinsky.

There are several other branches of Northern Dancer that have done well under Danehill and Danetime. Danetime has a group winner out of a mare by Bletchley Park and a black-type winner out of a mare by Tenby.  They are both by Caerleon, from the Nijinsky II line which could also be effective via Royal Academy. There is a Danetime group winner out of a mare by a son of Be My Guest (sire of Pentire) and we would also expect Northern Dancer through Last Tycoon (and his son O’Reilly) to do very well here.

Danetime sire a group winner out of a mare by Protos, a son of Mr. Prospector. This line has done well with Danehill in general, and should work particularly well here. Among sources of Mr. Prospector in Australia are Geiger Counter (giving another cross of the Thong family), Thunder Gulch, Woodman (sire of Timber Country and Hector Protector), Miswaki(sire of Umatilla), Gone West (and his sons, Elusive Quality and Zafonic), and Street Cry, and Distorted Humor and Fusaichi Pegasus (who both give inbreeding to Danzig, something found in a Danetime grade one winner).

Danetime has two stakes winners out of mares by Distant Relative, a son of Habitat, from the Sir Gaylord line. It may be possible to introduce Habitat through Arch Sculptor, Bassenthwaite, Lord Seymour and Gold Brose (giving line breeding to Rough Shod II). Of course in general, Danehill line stallions have excelled with Sir Gaylord via Sir Ivor and Sir Tristram, and that branch should be considered here. Particularly interesting will be Zabeel and his sons, Octagonal and Reset (who all bring in Nureyev).

Danetime is sire of a stakes winner out of a mare by Todvega (a grandson of Todman) and a group one winner out of a mare Old Spice (by Kaoru Star), both from the Star Kingdom line. Kaoru Star could also be utilized through Luskin Star and his son Covetous, and Star Kingdom can also be introduced through Biscay (through Bletchingly and his sons Canny Lad, Best Western and Star Watch, and grandsons Kingdom Bay and Hurricane Sky; and through and Marscay), Nodouble (through Semipalatinsk), Zephyr Bay and Planet Kingdom.

Danetime has also sired stakes winners out of mares by Is it True and Rory’s Jester; out of mares by Indian Ridge and Don’t Forget Me (both by Ahonoora; out of mares by Selkirk and Sharp Victor (both by Sharpen Up): and out of a mare by Marooned (by Mill Reef, a strain that should work very well here). He has also has a group one winner by Efisio (from the Forli line). Forli is already in Myboycharlie’s pedigree through Thatching sire of his second dam, but that horse could be worth doubling through Archway, Rustic Amber (his son Sequalo) or Tirol. Danetime sired a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Marooned (who is by Mill Reef, a genetic relative to Riverman, who is in the dam of Myboycharlie). We should also bear in mind that both Snippets (Snowland and Snippetson) and Red Ransom (Portillo) have sired high class stakes winners out of the family of Myboycharlie so mares by these stallions, and indeed Snowland and Snippetson themselves, should be considered.
